Sree Rama continued, the King has no right to give boon to the queen at any time for the help she had done in the war. The wife need not be given boon for saving the life of the husband. Because both are duties. The boon should not be given for carrying out the duties.

Sree Rama: Real History – Kalki
“Crown Prince Rama, King wants to see you immediately.” Sumantra informed Rama.
“Yes, I am there in no time”. Rama answered with due respect.
As He was getting ready to go-
“Please return soon. There are only very few days for coronation.” Sita said while she was dressing up.
“All right.” Rama replied.
“Shall we start?” Rama came out of the room and asked Sumantra. He enquired, “Is there any special reason for the King to call me?”
“King is unusually upset. His blood shot eyes, tear soaked face, dishevelled hair, careless dressing – all indicate that the King and the palace are in deep trouble. But I don’t know what the problem is. But I heard that Queen Kaikeyee is annoyed of some issue. I don’t know more.” Sumantra disclosed of what he knew.
“Umm!” Sree Rama did not say anything more.
They reached the palace and entered the inner chambers to see Dasharatha.
As soon as Dasharatha saw Rama, quite contrary to the usual, he groaned in agony and embraced Rama. Just as Sumantra had told, The King was in very bad shape but Rama did not show any emotions.
With trembling lips, shaky hands and faltering steps the old King Dasharatha told Rama,” Rama, I am in a vicious circle. Tell me a way to escape this. As justice should be the base of all our dealings, Rama, you the crown Prince and Dharmapurusha, you should advise me the right path. According to the Kingly diplomacy, I have not informed anyone else.”
“Kindly let me know what the matter is”. Rama spoke with confidence. More than to his father, he was speaking to the King of the land, Dasharatha.
“Rama, let me ask you something before revealing the issue. I am the King of Ayodhya as well as the father of Rama. Rama is the appointed Crown Prince as well as my son. Whose words will you obey? The King’s or the father’s? Though Dasharatha was serious his voice was heavy with anxiety.
“I, the Crown prince will obey the words of the King only if they are beneficial to the people and also if they are morally and ethically right, logical and practical. I will obey the words of the father only if they are according to the family morals and suitable to the positions and relations of the family members. His words should not be influenced by his attachments as a Father or discrimination as a King. I give importance to the merit of the words, not for the persons or relationships. I give importance to righteousness, lawfulness and Dharma.”
“Oh! I am happy to hear this! Rama is the right person! He should become the King. People of Ayodhya are lucky to have him!” Dasharatha repeated this in ecstasy.
The King who was in a very sad state a few minutes back was cheered up now. “I had promised a boon to one of the queens a long time ago. Much later, she puts up a claim on that. But fulfilling the Kings promise will turn out to be a threat to the Kingdom’s safety itself. Is the King obliged to uphold his word to the Queen even if he has to put his country, his people and their wellbeing in jeopardy?” He asked Rama while arranging his clothes properly. Dasharatha was trying to decide his course of action in an indirect manner.
“A King should not do anything that is not befitting his position; that do not enhance the wellbeing of his people. The King and the Queen do not have the right to do anything that could be a threat to the safety of the country and its people. A country is not a family asset. Family exists only if the country exists. The King should not misuse his rights for selfish interests.” Sree Rama continued.
“A King and a Queen will have powers by virtue of their positions. They do not have any such powers as mere individuals. Then they can enjoy only an ordinary citizen’s rights. He should always remember that the powers bestowed upon him should never be misused and as an individual he is only as good as any other ordinary person in the country and so should be careful while using his official powers. A citizen has only rights, not powers. The power of the position he occupies is attributed to him as long as he occupies that position. So it is temporary and he should keep that in his mind.
King, Queen, Prime Minister, Head of the army, Mother, Father etc. are all posts. Each post has its own structure and powers. Those who occupy each post should act according to the prescribed protocol. Otherwise it will turn out to be disastrous.
Queen is the person who occupies the position of the wife of the person who is appointed as the King. While Husband and Wife are the terms pertaining to the family, King and Queen belong to the country.”
“Always the cause of the country comes first. It is necessary for the country to exist if the family, culture, relations etc. should exist. Any country which is not built upon the proud pillars of its age old culture will have to subject itself to slavery. This slavery could be in two ways; one is slavery due to foreign rule and the next is slavery due to foreign culture. That is why more importance is given to the country than to the family. Every nation has its own civilisation. Its victory lies in its ability to sustain that civilisation unpolluted. A stable country alone can do it. Foreign occupation leads to foreign culture taking roots in that soil. The King, the Queen and every individual of a country should be always alert to safeguard the unity of the country.”
“The members of a family have rights only inside the family. The merits and demerits of the family is restricted to the few members of it. But each individual is also a citizen of a country who has duties towards his nation. And the state of the country and its affairs will affect every citizen.
Nobody should misuse the influence and relation he has towards the King of a country, even if he is a family member. A King is responsible for the safety, pride, prospects and wellbeing of the country and its citizens. He should not subjugate himself to the greed, vanity and cunningness of his family members. He should put them in their places. If they start wielding power, it shows that the King has become inactive. That should never happen. If it happens, the safety and prosperity of the country will be affected. So, the King should be always on guard. Just as the alertness of the parents is very important while bringing up their children, the King’s vigil is utmost important in looking after the interests of the Kingdom.”
“An ordinary person, if he marries will have a wife who is a concern of that family only. But when the King marries, his wife is the Queen and she is a concern of the nation. Each one of them has got multifaceted duties of a husband, son, and brother or a wife, daughter or sister.”
“The common people of the country are the ones who will have to suffer the consequences of the wrong doings of the queen. But what she does in the role of a wife has consequences only for her husband and her family. She has double responsibilities as that of a wife and a queen. She has to be very alert and matured to impart these duties effectively. King should be aware that the Queen’s personal flaws like greed, vested interests, avarice, pride and selfishness could be a threat to the country itself. So, he should fulfil her wishes only after taking into consideration the more important issues of the country. The King should uphold noble values in all his dealings. He should be beyond the influence of his own people. People also should be always vigilant about the doings of the King.
The King and The Queen are only Positions or Designations. When the Lady with the title Queen has the Man with the title King as her husband, the citizens see a father, saviour and a son in him. Similarly, when the Man with the title King has the Lady with the title Queen as his wife, they see a mother figure and a sister in her. So, it is of utmost importance that the King and the Queen do everything possible to safe guard the interests of the people through good administration.”
“So, in the name of an age old promise, the interests of the country and its people should not be violated. Even if the Queen expresses such a wish, it should be understood that she is in the grip of some traitorous influence; someone who is trying to bring about instability in the country. The culprits including the Queen should be brought to books in front of the Parliament. They should be given appropriate punishment. If not, the King will be betraying his own country through the falsehood of the Queen. He will become a subject to the curse of his own people.”
These words of Rama gave relief to Dasharatha because it relieved Him that Rama was indeed a matured statesman, a true diplomat.
“Your answer is very apt. There is no doubt that the people of Ayodhya are lucky to have you as their King.” After speaking thus, Dasharatha summoned Sumantra. “Make arrangements for the Privy Council to meet tomorrow itself. And make it convenient for the public also to attend the meeting”, he ordered Sumantra. Sree Rama politely interrupted, “But to call for the meeting in a hurry…”
“I will reveal everything in the meeting!” Dasharatha answered hurriedly looking at Rama. Then he summoned the head of his army. He said, “I want to meet the advisor of Royalty, Vasishta immediately. Call the Queens also.” Meanwhile when army head reached, he gave the order, “Nobody should leave the palace. Strict security measures should be taken. Border guards should be very vigilant.” When Rama rose to leave he asked him to stay back. Rama obliged.
The next day when the court assembled, King Dasharatha entered the hall and every one rose in resect. He sat on the throne and others also sat down to attend the day´s proceedings. He extended special attention to Rama and asked him to sit next to him. Sita, Lakshmana and other Rajarshies were present with Rama. Other than Vasishta and other eminent people, the common people who had secured entry through special permits were also there that day.
“Today is an especially crucial day in the history of Ayodhya. If there is a full moon day there will be a new moon day also. If a crime is committed, befitting punishment is inevitable.” Dasharatha declared after the initial formalities of the court. He was stealing glances at Kaikeyee. She deserved special attention because of her frightened and embarrassed expressions. “I summoned this meeting with a special purpose in mind. Sree Rama is going to be enthroned in a two days’ time. The people and the court should be convinced of his skills, talents, integrity, truthfulness, sincerity and righteousness. This is an occasion for him to prove it.”
“I am going to ask Rama a few questions. He should answer them with integrity. Those who have assembled here can assess those answers and pass verdict on Rama.” Everyone was puzzled and perplexed to hear these words.
Dasharatha asked his first question, “What are meant by a Kingdom and a King?”
Without any hesitation Rama started to answer the question. “People in the Kingdom is what is meant by the word Kingdom. And the King is their representative who safeguards their rights and dharma. A Nation has its well defined boundaries. It has its distinct rules and regulations. People rooted firmly in its culture and civilisation, who live according to the rules and regulations of their land can be said to be the true citizens of that nation. It is those citizens who entrust the King with the duty of ruling them with their own wellbeing as his primary intention. Only for this purpose should he use the powers of his position as a King.” Rama was very clear in expressing his mind. The assembly gave him undivided attention.
Dasharatha’s next question was, “How should the King be?”
“The King should be Dharma itself. (Dharma means Equilibrium). Goodness of intentions and rightfulness should be his guiding forces. He should never be restrained by family ties. He should not have undue attachments towards anybody or anything. He should be tough but soft, should have strong moral values and should be selfless and dignified. He should be aware of the needs of his people. He should make use of the powers bestowed on him for the wellbeing of his people. The title of the King is not for ever and so he should himself obey its powers. He should know that it is his people who should benefit from his position and powers and not he himself. Discretion is the real wisdom. A King should not play with the future of the people. making financial gains is not the aim of ruling a country. He should not become a business man making profit at the risk of his own people. He should stand for and only for the good of the common man of his country.” Rama said all this without any hesitation.
“Then how about the people of the country?” Dasharatha asked.
They should be custodians of Dharma. If the King is the Sun called Dharma, then the people should be like the rays of that Sun. ”Rama replied.
“How should be the administration?” was Dasharatha’s next question.
“It should be for the peace and comfort of the people. Basic needs of the people should be given prime importance. Adequate changes according to the need of the time should be made in constitution and in implementations. Technical progress and a strong defence force are mandatory. The King should not force people into the trap of debt. If such an administration is not put into practice, the common man will appear to be the owners of the country’s resources but in effect they will be the tenants and in reality just aliens to all that.” Rama’s explanation of the duties of a King satisfied everyone.
“If the governance is in trouble, how should the King overcome that?”Dasharatha asked Rama.
“The King should step in and take control of the situation. He should be matured and cautious in his approach. All should get justice. The King should confidently address the people and hold discussions regarding all the problems of the nation. He himself should appoint experts to look into each issue and should take decisions in consultation with them. The decisions should be communicated to the people and their opinion also taken into account. The nation’s defence should be strengthened by creating a network of informers and taking action whenever necessary. But one thing that is important is that the King should be unaffected by any of these problems and he should always remain level headed.” Rama’s reply was very motivating to the assembly and they welcomed it wholeheartedly. But Kaikeyee was seen to be highly disturbed.
“When the King himself is the husband and the father, how should he fulfil his duties according to each of his position?” Dasharatha asked Rama.
Promises and duties should be fulfilled based on values and morals. There is no distinction as father or King in imparting duties. It might be the same person in different roles but no role should not stand in the way of fulfilling a promise because that is his duty. As a King his Kingdom and its people and as a father his family, wife and children are areas where he should fulfil his duties. But undue attachments towards any one should not influence his deeds nor should it blind him and prevent him from doing justice.” Rama spoke these words with his natural grace and propriety. His words encouraged and thrilled the listeners.
King of Ayodhya, Dasharadha asked his next question “How should be the Queen of the country?”
“Queen is the property of the country as wife is of the family. Wellbeing of the people and the prosperity of the country should be her aim. It is she who should give support to the King in fulfilling his duties. She should be wise enough not to unduly involve the King in family matters lest that will hinder his ability to fulfil his Kingly duties. He needs her emotional support for that. In short, she should always be a pillar of support behind him. No thought or action that is against the interest of the country should come from the queen.”
Rama’s answer pleased Vasishta the more.
“If the King has many wives and in them many sons, whom should he select as his predecessor?” The King viewed those who were present there very keenly and asked this question. Everyone looked at each other perplexed. Kousalya and Sumitra didn’t understand what was happening and so was anxious. Only Kaikeyee exhibited both fear and anxiousness intermittently.
“The King who should be a model in front of his people should root all his doings in dharma. If the one who should lead the nation himself has many wives and in them many sons, then he has fallen short of morals, values and above all dharma. A man should have only one wife; a person has only one father and one mother. That is the unquestionable rule of nature which should be followed in any country. That is necessary to lead a worthy life based on moral values and principles. Ones ancestors might have gone through some wrong paths. But the more knowledgeable predecessors should not follow that path blindly. That will lead to wrong customs and rituals. If the people budge from the moral path, the country will become a home land of anarchy and will wither off. If that has to be prevented, the King should be a role model for the people in all respects. That is the Aarsha Bharatha culture. That is the Sanathana Dharma. ”Sree Rama’s reply evoked different reactions in the people assembled. There was fear and anxiety on their face. Rama stopped his speech and looked at Dasharatha with apprehension.
“You can continue Rama. I am in a state of ecstasy by hearing your words of wisdom. You have all the freedom to criticise even my deeds if they are wrong. You can assize me and sentence me if required.” The father who knew of his son’s righteousness encouraged him to go on.
Vasishta’s eyes were filled with satisfaction. The pledge of Dasharatha and Sree Rama to uphold Dharma at any cost pleased all those who were present there.
Rama continued.
“The Prince chosen to be crowned should have certain qualities. He should be one who considers Rajaneethi (Rules and Justice for Welfare Nation) as his preceptor, duty as his father, protection as his mother, responsibilities as his children, Dharma as his wealth, good intentions as truth, evolution as the law of nature, people of the country as the Nation itself, principles as the route. For him the wellbeing of the people should be the goal, nonviolence his sibling, injustice and dishonesty his enemies, practicality his foundation, chastity and humility his habits. He should have an uncorrupted independent mind. His should accept bliss from spirituality as his reward. He should be devoted to Lord Shiva with Parvathi and to Lord Vishnu with Lakshmi. Such a person is eligible for the crown.”
He continued. “The title of the King is not to be inherited. Maturity, a strong sense of duty, selflessness, efficiency, wisdom, morality, practical insight, bravery, diligence, clarity, spirituality, decisiveness, alertness are some of the qualities one should possess to become the King.”
The 7th Incarnation Lord Sree Rama was writing history in political aphorism.
Rama’s words evoked curiosity and anxiety in all the Queens except Kaikeyee, the King’s adviser Vasishta, Ministers, the commoners who were present and more than any one, Sita and Lakshmana. No one really understood what was going on and they all keenly tried to follow the events unfurling in front of them.
“Excellent answer!” King Dasharatha was immensely pleased with Rama’s answer. “Now listen to what I am going to say and answer me cautiously.”
“Imagine that the King chose one of his sons who has all the qualities you have described to be the King. Date and time for coronation was also proclaimed. But long ago, one of his Queens had helped the King to win a battle and he had promised that she could ask for two boons as a reward for her good deed. At this instant, imagine that the queen reminded the King of his long forgotten promise to her and made a claim of it. It was her selfishness that brought her to make the claim at such an auspicious occasion.” Dasharatha paused so as to arouse the curiosity in the listeners. Ayodhya had never witnessed such an unexpected and grave moment as this. Dasharatha’s words reverberated in the hall. “Rama, what should be the course of action the King should resort to in such a situation?”
Everybody’s attention turned to Kaikeyee because she was showing signs of acute restlessness by her expressions and gestures. They understood there was some serious problem.
Vasishta liked the way Dasharatha presented the topic there. He was discreet as well as tactful and explicit. Moreover, he was the official adviser of the King and had been informed of all the developments prior to the meeting.
Lakshmana also was found to be immersed in thoughts. Sita intently looked at Rama. Others were also very attentive.
Rama continued.
“Opinions can change but decisions made should be implemented and obeyed. Here, if the King has made a decision regarding his predecessor and has made it public, he should fulfil his words to the people without any dely. He should conduct the coronation. To get an efficient ruler is the right of the people. King should safeguard that right.
Rama looked at the people calmly and continued.
“It is for propagation and for becoming a partner in a moral existence that a person weds somebody and protects her thereafter. So they should never ask from each other anything that would hinder this purpose.” This statement marked an important milestone in the history of Bharatha. It paved the way to wipe off the ignorance that was prevailing so far in the society and to resort to the right path towards success in life.
The fearless and objective ways of Rama was highly appreciated by the people of Ayodhya who had assembled there in large number and it set an example for them.
Rama continued.
Actually, the King and the Queen are subjects like anyone else of that country. They are only bestowed with those titles to become the representatives of the subjects. Even though the timely intervention of the queen might have saved the life of the King, he should never give promises to her as to fulfil any of her unjustifiable wishes as a reward for her action. Because, if she had saved the King and thus protected the country, it was only her duty just like any other citizen, to do whatever possible to defend one’s own land from the enemies. Instead, he could give due recognition to her timely deed. He could also give her deserving rewards for her bravery. Such encouragement would show the people that all have equal responsibilities to safe guard their country. Not only that but also it is only her moral duty to defend the life of her husband. It is not necessary to give boons for imparting one’s duties. Here the King forgot the truth that it is beyond any human being to give a boon that he would fulfil any wish of another person. Only incarnations of God who have unlimited divinity, nobility and godliness could give boons to fulfil any ambition of a human. Nothing that could give a wrong message of vanity and pride should be given by the King himself. He should always remain a role model in front of the people.”
Rama paused to observe especially Dasharatha and Kaikeyee and then continued.
“If the husband feels personal obligation to his wife for protecting his life and gives word to her that he will grand two of her wishes, he should surely do so. But then he should act only as a husband who doesn’t have royal authorities. It is the position of the King that gives him such powers.”
“Though a street beggar has only the basic rights of a common man, if that beggar becomes the King the situation changes and he possesses the King’s powers. So positions are attributed with powers and not persons. It should not be assumed otherwise. Vice versa, the King will have only limited powers and rights as an individual. At the same time as a King he is the sovereign of that country.” Thus Rama explained Dharma based on political ethics.
“Here Queen has asked the King to send the prince eligible to become the King to the forest and give her own son that position. As a King he doesn’t have the right to fulfil a boon he had given to his wife in a personal level. An individual may have a wife or sons. But a King has only his subjects and no wife or sons. Wellbeing of the subjects could be achieved only through rightful administration by the Ruler. It is the right of the people to get a virtuous ruler. So, to send such a prince to the forest and entrust the administration in undeserving hands is equal to doing injustice to the people.”
“If Queen is asking the prince should be sent to the forest for a long period, she should be definitely subjected to punishment for treason. If she is demanding illegally that her son should be made the King, it will create anarchy and internal splits because they are missing an eligible prince as their King. Then the enemies would conquer the country. Thus, in effect, the Queen’s request would destroy the Kingdom itself. Instead of being a part to this, what is needed is to give deserving punishment to all including the Queen who are involved in this conspiracy. But here a question remains unanswered. And that is, how could the word given to the Queen fulfilled.” Rama paused and observed Kaikeyee who appeared to be terribly frightened.
“A father has no right to ask his son to make forest his residence. It is not the father or the mother who create their offspring. They are only setting an environment conducive for that. And also everyone has a right for existence. Neither the son nor the father should take away that from each other. They can only support to each other’s right for existence. That is Dharma.”
Rama’s words were thought provoking to many. Some others admired Rama’s wisdom. Still others became curious. But some like Lakshmana smelled some unpleasant outcome that was going to befall.
“One is obliged to keep up whatever promise he has made to others. That is only Dharma. But according to Dharma only one should make promises and receive promises. Only then both have to fulfil the above obligation to each other. Here the person who received the boon did not deserve it as demonstrated above. So as a husband or a father or as the King, that boon need not be fulfilled. A father asking his son to go to forest to satisfy his own need is, in fact, depriving his son of his right to live.”
“Excellent! Your reply is excellent!” King Dasharatha was beyond himself with joy.
“Excellent!!” Vasishta also showered his blessings on Rama.
“I would like to know the decision of the court.” Dasharatha gave an opportunity to every one.
They unanimously declared, “We completely agree with Prince Rama.”
“Then I am going to let you know of an important decision.” Dasharatha continued. “Queen Kaikeyee and Vidushi Manthara should be locked up in the prison immediately. The Chief of Army has to implement my order this moment.”
King Dasharatha’s words shocked everyone. Within seconds all were immersed in sorrow. They failed to comprehend what was going on. Only Vasishta remained composed.
Rama was very alert. Kausalya and Sumitra were terrified. Kaikeyee looked down in shame.
When Kaikeyee was about to be handcuffed as per the orders of Dasharatha, the King “Oh! King please reveal the reason for sentencing Ma Kaikeyee in this way.” Rama spoke these words with utmost humility.
“Dear Rama, so far I was presenting a true happening in an indirect way. It was Kaikeyee herself who asked me to fulfil my old promise of the two boons I mentioned. According to our political policy I have not revealed this to anyone except Vasishta. But we kept vigil over Manthara and Kaikeyee.”King Dasharatha described to Rama without hiding anything.
“During a war which was waged many years ago, I had promised two boons to Kaikeyee for helping me in the battle field. Now she has put up a claim for those boons. She wants her son Bharatha to be made the King and secondly she wants Rama to be sent to the forest for fourteen years.”
Like arrows hitting hapless birds, these words hit Kousalya, Sita and Lakshmana. They were grief struck. Since it was the royal court, everyone tried to be self-disciplined and not to show their shock and grief openly. Dasharatha continued, “If Kaikeyee, in spite of being the Queen, entertained the venomous thought of sending the most coveted Prince Rama to the forest, she should definitely be punished so as to set an example for others. Rama loved and respected her as his own mother. In spite of that she wanted to send him to the forest for fourteen years. Thereby she proved herself to be a disgrace to the whole of motherhood. She deserved to be punished because she paved a way for our Sanathana Dhrma to be misunderstood by the rest of the world.” King Dasharatha passed judgement.
Though the court was silent they were rejoicing at the greatness of Arsha Bharatha culture which was upheld by this verdict passed on Kaikeyee.
Meanwhile –
“Oh! King, kindly let me say something.” Sree Rama humbly requested.
“You may speak”, said Dasharatha.
“Now, at this juncture, Ma Kaikeyee should not be punished. Since Bharatha is not in station he should be urgently summoned before any action is taken. Or else if Bharatha later feels that all the incidents that took place here were all contrived stories for grabbing power from him, he could not be blamed. Ayodhya will not have an answer if he asks why he was not informed of such serious incidents in the Kingdom. So the most pressing need is to summon Bharatha as early as possible. Till then Ma Kaikeyee and Manthara should be kept in house arrest instead of in prison. And also it is not fair to punish only these two people in this case.” Rama said.
“What you are saying is right.” Vasishta supported Rama’s opinion. The ministers and all the others present there also agreed with Rama. Queens, Sita and Lakshmana too followed suit.
“Make arrangements for Bharatha to return to the palace immediately.” Dasharatha gave order to the chief of the ministers, Sumanthra.
Sree Rama again requested to the King, “Let me call your attention to something important in this matter.”
“Yes, you may” Dasharatha agreed.
“Punishments are for the wrong deeds and not for the people, though the body that did the wrong deed is obliged to undergo the punishment.” Rama continued.
“When sentence is proclaimed, not only the person who did the wrong but also the person who instigated the wrong doer, who set circumstances for it also should be punished.”
“Perhaps it is not the one who committed the crime but the person behind it, the force behind it would be the actual culprit. In that case, the one behind the scene who set the stage ready deserves more serious punishment.” Sree Rama cleared his point.
“In the name of Dharma, based on royal justice, I the son of the King of Ayodhya, I the representative of Aarsha Bharatha, the preserver and the 7th Incarnation of Lord Vishnu here by reveals: the true culprit is King Dasharatha. So my father doesn’t have the moral right or power to pass a verdict, standing in the position of the King. When the first accused himself pass a judgment in the case, how can the people have faith in it? The King has no powers to give a boon to his wife for helping him in the battle field. It is not necessary for the husband to give boons to the wife for saving his life. Both are one’s duties. Kaikeyee is a subject of the country as well as the wife of Dasharatha. She could be given positions and respected for her good deed. But the King or the husband cannot give a boon as a reward that any of her wishes will be fulfilled. If he does that it is misusing his powers and is against Dharma. Only if one is in the supreme position and has that power then he can give what is deserving to the needy one. But he should never give boons. Or else the nobility of words itself will be lost. The people will go astray. It is Lord’s privilege to give a boon that any wish will be fulfilled. Among humans, those who got divine powers (incarnations) used to do that. But ordinary people have no right to give boons.”
Only when the wellbeing of the people is protected through royal justice and ethical rules do the position of the King and relations in the family gain importance. This is what Sree Rama proves here.
The atmosphere of fear, anxiety and doubt became heavier with silence. All looked at Rama in wonder. Unable to believe themselves, they suffocated.
Sree Rama continued with his ethical and value based judgement.
“Here, Dasharatha who gave a gift that he did not possess is the first accused. Kaikeyee is the second accused. She misused the gift given to her. And that gift would weaken the rule, orphan the subjects and misinterpret justice. Manthara who instigated Kaikeyee and made her do all this is the third accused. This is the Dharma according to Royal justice. King should forgive me.” Sree Rama’s sense of righteousness and logic amazed the people.
“Very well done, Rama. You are the real King! You are perfect!” The grand old man Dasharatha who always stood with Dharma, came running to Rama and embraced him.
“I am pleased with you! People of Ayodhya are lucky to have you!” Dasharatha went on in ecstasy.
Vasishta also expressed his happiness, “Commendable! Prince’s judgement is certainly according to Dharma!! I, the Royal advisor of the King accept this.”
“I, Dasharatha, the King of Ayodhya, the one who committed offence, hereby declares: I am surrendering my title as the King at this moment to Sree Rama the incarnation of justice and virtues in the presence of the people of Ayodhya. All the proceedings will be followed on the day of coronation. Hail the new King! Hail the King of Ayodhya! Hail Rama!” Dasharatha, intoxicated by happiness continued.
“King Rama can decide the punishment for me, the offender. Let this country be the fertile land of Dharma. Let the purpose of your 7th Incarnation be fulfilled. Let justice be re-established.” Dasharatha spoke like a King who had just won a battle.
“Long live Rama! Victory to Rama, the King of Ayodhya!”, people were going on shouting.
“Stop!”
The assembly became silent at the sudden outburst of Rama.
“It was not for power that I said and did all this. I just fulfilled the aim of my incarnation. And that was to re-establish Dharma. I only explained independently the King’s duties according to Justice and Dharma.”
Rama continued,
The Re-establishment of Dharma (equilibrium) is a conscious level process which convince the state of Dharma and it clarifies. That is what called The Re-establishment of Dharma – the most important duty of incarnation. The purpose of Incarnation is not to kill some enemies.”
“Who am I to rule? The Supreme Organizing Authority and Supreme Preceptor Lord Shiva alone does that. Who am I in this? What right has this body and life has to claim to be the doer? Everything happens according to the order of Lord Shiva. We are only medium. Let everyone pray to overcome their weakness related to physical and intellectual, selfishness and ego. Let all pray with sincere dedication to get purification.”
“I am not the one to be praised. Let all pray to Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, officially existing in the light form (Prakasha Swaroopa, not made of five elements i.e. Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space which is known as Panchabhoothathmaka body) in Celestial Sphere (Jyorthir Mandal) named Brahma loka, Shiva loka and Vishnu loka with official co-workers Saraswathi Devi, Parvathi Devi and Lakshmi Devi respectively.” Sree Rama continued.
“One can only achieve salvation when he takes birth as a human in his last birth. A father, son, brother or King should always attempt to fulfil his duties and responsibilities without any prompting from any one. Such self-disciplined persons alone will be accepted by Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu respectively. This is how pure and sincere devotion should be sustained in life.”
“The confusion, restlessness, conspiracy and dilemmas in the palace will frighten the people and make them anxious. That will lead to breakdown in the departments of finance, defence, administration, law and order. Therefore, Sree Rama, who has now been given the authority of the King by Dasharatha is stating His verdict here that history of Ayodhya and culture of Bharatha will not be tarnished. The cause of all these unfortunate developments here is the careless and unintelligent promise that was given. But nothing disastrous has really happened though some futile attempts were made. Since the happenings are connected to Me, I am the eligible person to say the verdict also. I declare that though King Dasharatha and Queen Kaikeyee have committed a crime, they are exempted from punishments, but Manthara should be punished.”
“Certain things are to be taken into consideration while the offender is identified and punished. Their state of mind at the time of committing offence, circumstances, intentions, cause and effect, evidence, witnesses, proof, partner, incentive, compulsion, helplessness, condition of the state and the society are to be analysed and evaluated before punishment is given even to the proved offender.”
Court of justice is not established to make the criminals to remain as criminals throughout their life. Its duty is to rescue them from their criminal tendencies and help them lead a normal life. This is an unbreakable law. Any kind of animosity, hatred or personal grudge should not stand in the way of doing the rightful. Justice is not anyone’s monopoly. Only if justice is implemented, people will understand the value and use of Dharma. For the country to be eligible for the blessings of Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, it should always remain just to the people.”
The soldier guarding the border might have killed trespassers and traitors. Even though he has committed murder he need not undergo punishment because his intention is defence and he is permitted to kill the enemy as per the law of the land. Likewise, the body guard might have killed the traitor who attempted to murder the King. But he is not punished because the intention of his killing is to protect the King and thus safeguard the interest of the state. It is the duty of the guard to catch hold and if necessary kill the one who made an attempt on the life of the King. So he is exempted from punishment. So even if the culprit is caught, many issues are to be analysed before passing a judgement on him.”
“Here it is seen that the boon given by King Dasharatha is the reason for all misdeeds. He should not have given that boon. But he did so because of his love and his relief that his life was saved. He was perplexed and had lost equanimity. He wanted to uphold the good name of his ancestors and took pride is being able to do so through the battle victory. He was attached to his ego. All these lead to his promise which has created all these calamities. But since Dasharatha did not have any intention of creating a situation for lese-majeste, he should be exempted from punishment.”
“Since King Dasharatha did not accept or favour the request of Kaikeyee which would have jeopardise the entire administration, he does not deserve punishment. He had no bad intentions while giving the boon and when he understood the danger of granting the wish of Kaikeyee he did not honour his promise to her. So he should be exempted from punishment.”
“If the King who has the power to implement justice is found guilty, he could deny it, misuse his powers and supress the findings and escape accusations. But here, King Dashradha who is interested only in the righteousness, owns up his mistake and expresses his willingness to surrender the Kingdom and undergo punishment. From this circumstantial evidence it is clear that he did not have any evil motives.”
“Dasharatha pleaded guilty in front of everyone in the court, was humiliated and he resigned from his position. These are undeserving and unjustified. Still he suffered them as a consequence of his thoughtless deed. No one should be subjected to punishment two times for the same crime. And the intentions behind the deed also should be examined before sentencing anyone.”
“Ma Kaikeyee did not know that the boon she got was not something that she deserved. When her beloved son was away from her and when another queen’s son was declared to be the King, she rejoiced and embraced him in happiness just as if he was her own son. But Manthara manipulated her with evil intentions and made her believe that she and her son would be ousted from the Kingdom. In fear of the possible harm that might befall on her son, she accepted Manthara’s advice without thinking of the pros and cons and asked for the fulfilment of the boon in question from King Dasharatha.”
“It is essential to study the different aspects of Kaikeyee’s demand. Bharatha should be the King. Rama should live in the forest for fourteen years. This is the demand of Kaikeyee. According to that demand which she had put up based on Manthara’s advice, Rama will never become the King of Ayodhya. Her intention is not to make him King for fourteen years only, but it is never to make him the King. What she really demands indirectly is that as long as Bharatha lives, he should continue to be the ruler. That is why she is sending Rama to the forest. Rama should never be in the vicinity of his people. Manthara has advised Kaikeyee that if Rama is away from the country for sufficiently long time, Bharatha will be able to bring the people under his control through efficient administration. That is exactly what Kaikeyee has demanded. Nowhere in her request has she stated that Rama will be made the King when he returns from his fourteen years in the forest. If the unjust boon is sanctioned, Rama will never become the King of Ayodhya. If at all Rama becomes the King that will be equal to breaking the promise. She knew that as a dutiful son Rama will withdraw himself from Ayodhya in obedience to his father. It is according to this predisposition that she made her moves to get her boons fulfilled. Manthara and Kaikeyee forgot that the truly knowledgeable will go only according to Dharma as per Rajneethi (Rules and Justice for Welfare Nation) and not according to individuals or positions or relations. They will analyse and study each issue and make sure they are in accordance with Dharma and then only will take decisions to implement it. The seriousness of this issue will be clear when the true intention of the attempt is revealed. It is to obstruct the purpose of the 7th Incarnation of Lord Vishnu which is to enforce rule for the benefit of the people. So this trend is not to be taken as trivial and should not be ignored.”
The assembly was stunned to know about the depth of the evil intentions and seriousness of the issue. They were amazed to see the knack and skill of Rama in handling this complex issue. People could see that He has shelved personal considerations and given importance to only the Rajneethi (Rules and Justice for Welfare Nation). They praised Rama for his detached but considerate and respectful mode of administration.
“Traitorous instincts should be curbed in the beginning. Efficiency lies not in making it grow like a mountain. It is necessary to move cleverly before anyone’s evil and treacherous scheming against the nation with its planning and implementation. Through his words or deeds, the King should not give an opportunity to anyone to fulfil his evil intentions. If ever the King finds that his country is facing a crisis, he should objectively implement the law and regulations pertaining to the issue at hand immediately and bring back stability. He should never forget that if he does not do that, his people will suffer unnecessarily due to that unimportant but evil person. An efficient administrator should not blindly trust anyone. But at the same time he should place reasonable faith in his people. His observations should be very precise. He should enforce the wellbeing of his people through righteous means. Only such a ruler can bring prosperity and security to his county. He should not allow traitorous roots to spread even from friends and enemies. He should identify weakening forces in any form and take strict actions. The King should not refrain from timely precautious actions.”
Rama’s statements continued.
“Coronation should be done with the knowledge and in the presence and in consideration of the opinion of all the princes. But Dasharatha declared the date for the coronation of Rama when Kaikeyee’s son was absent. This paved the way for Manthara to mislead Kaikeyee to do evil.”
“When one efficient and matured prince is selected from many sons to be the King, surely all the other brothers should be given positions and recognised according to their potentials. Only then will they and their mothers will have a feeling that they are not ignored. That would have been a solution for all the restlessness and dissatisfaction. Since it was not done, Manthara was able to mislead Kaikeyee to make her put up wrong claims.”
“Thus Manthara’s provocation and her own fear that she and her son will be thrown out of the palace were the reasons for Kaikeyee to forget her duties and responsibilities and Dharma itself. She became so restless that her further actions lead to reasons of crimes.”
“It was not due to her own decision but due to several other reasons that Kaikeyee committed mistakes. She was frightened by Manthara that she and her son will be asked to leave the palace. She tempted Kaikeyee with the prospects of undeserving gains. The timing of Dasharatha’s declaration of coronation of Rama was misleading. It was due to these reasons that Kaikeyee became a culprit. Not only that, the victim of the crime himself, without any external influence, is pleading that the culprit should be forgiven and given a chance to live. So according to Royal justice, the King has the power and responsibility to exempt the person from punishment.”
“Here, it is I, Sree Rama, who would have to suffer the bad consequences. I do not have any hatred or animosity towards Ma Kaikeyee. Due to force of circumstances she fell in the path that led to mistakes. In the name of justice and Dharma, I request that she should not suffer punishment due to that.”
“She is eligible for exemption from punishment because, I, the sufferer is forgiving her and requesting pardon for her. Like what Dasharatha underwent, the embarrassment and shame she suffered in front of the court itself is a punishment in public. She should not be punished twice for the same mistake.”
Hereby I myself am concluding the subject of Ma Kaikeyee’s ill-founded ambition based on Dasharatha’s careless promise to her. Bharatha, Ma Kaikeyee’s son and my brother is given the title of the Prime Minister of Ayodhya. With the experience gained from me, let him continue the administration of Ayodhya after my time. The country which is fragmented should be integrated into one as Bharatha and Ayodhya should be its capital. A new chapter of Bharatha as a welfare nation is being written here. A new era is being born. Golden days of Mother Bharatha are onset.”
The purpose of the 7th Incarnation of Lord Vishnu as Sree Rama progressed from its first stage to the second stage of facilitating an ideal righteous rule in the country. This became the unforgettable moment of truth in which 7th Incarnation Lord Sree Rama uplifted Sanathan Dharma to the ultimate heights of nobility. Aarsha Bharatha culture reached its pinnacle. It also provided a chance for revealing the greatness of Lord Brahma with Saraswathi Devi, Lord Shiva with Parvathi Devi and Lord Vishnu with Lakshmi Devi. The royal court of Sree Rama became a testing ground for the people to know the worth of the nation, limitations of individuals and powers of positions and designations.
Sree Rama continued with His verdict,
“But the one who manipulates and misuses a situation to suite his or her needs should be adequately punished. Those deeds would damage the country and the wellbeing of the people, jeopardize the administration and hinder any progress. It is treachery which should not be repeated by anyone. So the punishment should be a lesson for everyone. Manthara tried to create animosity between the family members and to weaken the family bonds. She instigated the wrong doing. Prompting to do a crime is a major offence. It might be possible to make anyone a criminal if someone is bent upon making him so. More than the offender, the one who instigated the doer is dangerous. The root of the crime is in the prompter. So in reality, he is true offender although he may not be explicitly visible. The one who planned and encouraged another person to commit the crime is the real criminal. So, such a person, Manthara should be given apt punishment. The court could now decide what course of punishment should be meted out.”
Sree Rama gave the option to the court.
“Give Manthara life imprisonment. Let the traitor languish in the prison for the rest of her life.”
The court demanded unanimously.
“I accept everybody’s opinion. Chief of Army! Let Manthara be imprisoned in the jail for the rest of her life from this moment onwards.” Sree Rama gave the order.
If the issues are dealt with then and there, it will avoid the misfortunes that might occur due to those issues.”
Rama who stood for Dharma became Dharma itself and people were all witness to that moment of truth.
“Rama, my son, punish me also. I wronged as no mother should ever, punish me also.” Kaikeyee cried in anguish.
“Punishments should be awarded only rightfully. It is necessary to verify if they are so. The criteria for punishment should be to see if the individual’s deeds were according to Justice and Dharma. While leading a royal life if one’s life is tarnished by accusations, the shame it will bring itself is the natural punishments for him. Today, in front of the court Kaikeyee is proved to have committed offence. The shame it brings is the befitting punishment for her. Let her pray to Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu for the purification of her mind, words and deeds.” Sree Rama consoled Kaikeyee.
“Hail King, Sree Rama! May Sree Rama live long, the son of Dasharatha!!”
All those who were in the court were in sheer happiness.
Vasishtha told Dasharatha, “So coronation could be organized after two days as planned earlier!”
“Yes, in all pomp and show!!” Dasharatha replied.
Dasharatha then announced to the court, “Rama’s coronation will be held on the day declared earlier. All should be present for the auspicious occasion.”
The news spread like wild fire. People were encouraged and motivated by the way Rama dealt with a very serious and dangerous crisis that the country faced. They were satisfied by the skill and efficiency Rama showed in solving a very delicate issue.
After two days –
Ayodhya was in a festive mood. The happy tone of Sree Rama’s coronation was everywhere in the air.
Today is Rama’s coronation!!
Rituals have started. Vasishtha’s leadership was demonstration of the noble culture of Aarsha Bharatha.
Rama repeated the oath Vasishtha read out to Him. Then Rama was enthroned. Dasharatha presented his crown to Rama. The official stepping down of Dasharatha was thus concluded.
“All of you should co-operate with Rama to enable Him to rule the country for the wellbeing and prosperity of the people. You should forgive me for all the pitfalls that occurred during my time of administration. May Lord bless you. I wish to lead the rest of my life in Vanaprastha.”
Vasishtha spoke “We, the people of Ayodhya, invite our great Leader, the personification of truth itself, Sree Rama to enlighten everyone of their duties.”
“The blessed and fortunate people of Ayodhya, My greetings to all of you.” The people were overwhelmed by Rama’s words.
“I am the 7th Incarnation of Lord Vishnu, The Supreme Protection Authority – in the light form (Prakasha Swaroopa) existing in Vishnu loka – an important celestial sphere. Re-establishing the Dharma is the purpose of this Incarnation. All of you should be a part of this and should co-operate to fulfil this noble purpose as it is the right of the people to get good administration for welfare nation.”
Sri Rama was humble while speaking thus-
“My father who has a great wealth of knowledge and experience should make use of his faculties for the benefit of the people. The true meaning of Vanaprastha should be realised. Nobody can distant himself from his Karma and duties. By fulfilling one’s duties with precision he can attain Moksha. Merit lies in being able to do good to the people. Do not turn back from duties.”
“Devotion with wisdom is what is acceptable. Devotion and faith should be practical and it should be an asset to one’s own life. The micro, macro and true meaning of life should be comprehended. Vanaprastha is the training to do duties without expecting any reward. It is a way of life in which one imparts one’s duties impartially, without getting attached to them emotionally. It is not leading a solitary life away from the duties towards one’s family or country or Karma itself. Vanaprastha is a period of training for knowing one’s true self and to do Karma in a detached state of mind. It is not running away from life. I request Dasharatha to continue as the royal adviser of the court with Vasishta.”
Sri Rama’s words satisfied Dasharatha and others.
“My son, you defeated me here also. Your knowledge in Dharma is exemplary. I will heed to your words. Ayodhya is getting a new system of administration from now on.” Dasharatha was full of love and admiration for his son.
Rama bend in respect of Dasharatha. “People of Ayodhya are indebted to you for this.”
“I am appointing Ma Kaikeyee’s son, efficient Bharatha as the minister and Shathrughna as the helper. Lakshmana should be with Me. This is Sri Rama’s order.”
“Congratulations, Rama! You are the last word of justice! You are perfect!” Vasishta declared in ecstasy.
Administration was resumed after this.
“My most favourite soldier and the best of humans, Hanuman is appointed as the Head of my army. Welcome to Hanuman”. Hanuman entered and greeted Rama.
The court proceedings were completed and Sri Rama took over as the King of Ayodhya.
“The wellbeing of the people will be my prime aim. To begin with, I will make agriculture a non-commercial but a widespread industry. All will be owners. I will stop taxations. Everything will be documented. Is it necessary for the sons to give tax to the parents for bringing them up? It is the duty of the parents and right of their children. If they bring up the children with a business mentality, then they become business people. Mother and father are positions. When they are in these positions they will have the corresponding rights. Persons are not positions. They have only basic human rights. But people in particular positions will have the power of that position. The King will possess the powers of that position but that individual without the position is just an ordinary citizen. The powers of the King should be used for the benefit of the people and not for the benefit of that person.”
“A King should never take the role of a profit maker. He should stand for the people and their wellbeing. A county’s administration is not a business. People are not a source of income for the King. Kingship is a Lord given duty. It is not with the money of the people that the country’s affairs should be run. Parents should be self-sufficient to look after their children. Children should not be penalised for that. Then only the relationship becomes meaningful with mutual respect.”
“Development projects should be well planned. Administration should not be for its own sake. Prosperity lies in land, facilities, arrangements and conveniences. A well balanced administration will lead to prosperity and that will lead to equality. A good ruler will ensure that everyone in his country gets equal opportunities. The employer and the employee are two parts of the personality. Owner is the most important person. Each employee should rise to the position of an owner. These owners should take the role of an employee or employer whenever necessary.”
One should concentrate on position and duty and not on emotions. If you love somebody you will expect that love to be returned. You become possessive and that will lead to sorrow. But if you impart your duties without attachment, you will have more clarity of mind and you will not expect anything in return for your deeds. If you want freedom and peace you should be detached from relations and connections. Duty should be the only force behind actions. Then you will not be tied by the feelings of I, My and Mine. You will have Lord’s blessings and peace of mind.”
“If welfare nation is not practically implemented in a country by the efficient Ruler, the people will appear to be owners, but in effect to be tenants and in reality to be aliens.”
The discourse of Sri Rama was a new experience for all those who had assembled there.
Sri Rama continued.
“The objective of my 7th Incarnation has entered the significant role of that of the King. The purpose of my Incarnation will be implemented with respect to the Nation, World and Universe and not with respect to individuals, families and society. Everything will be according to the will of Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Vishnu. Food, Clothing, Shelter, Education and medical facilities will be systematically made available for all the people alike.” Rama revealed his plans.
Even though poverty is eradicated from the country, if that is the destiny of a person to know the pangs of hunger, he will know it. But that is not poverty. That may be his fate. Here may be many reasons for it that might extend to his previous birth. Like that all that is destined to happen will happen. Nobody can escape his destiny. God decides everything.”
“So, I am not putting up new claims. A King has the ultimate power in the system to implement actions that will benefit the people. He has to be very cautious to see that the grace of Lord reaches the people uninterrupted. He should not have favouritism or animosity towards anyone. He should be free in his mind without any prejudices to enforce rule in the country. Then only the people will get what Lord has willed for them.”
“I am not doing anything new. I could do only what Lord Shiva has earlier decided. Nothing is my decision. All decisions are by Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. My duty is to realise and implement them.”
When 7th Incarnation Sree Rama revealed to the people how an ideal King should be, they all were very thrilled. They were filled with expectations of a bright future.
Sri Rama continued-
“With the available facilities the transportation conveniences in cities and villages should be improved and modernised. Action should be taken to improve business contacts with the neighbouring countries. Foreign policies should be more productive and friendly.”
“It is very essential to have improved transportation facilities between our country and Sri Lanka in order to have a good relation with our neighbouring country, Sri Lanka.
“It is possible only with the blessings of Lord Shiva in Shiva loka. First of all, to please Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu the installation must be done at Rameswara either in stone or metal in cylindrical form. It will become renowned great temple. And, thus, by Lord’s blessings, we will be able to construct an extraordinary path, a bridge between Bharatha and Sri Lanka. Hard working and enthusiastic youth should be with Us. Then definitely by blessings it will be possible. The greatness of Bharatha lies in its spirituality and good administration. The prosperity of the people due to the good deeds of the king will be a role model for the rest of the world. Whatever I have stated here are only my plans and the merit of it lies in its implementation.”
“Lord has allotted a space for everyone. Success of life lies in knowing where, when and how it is. It may be present in every moment but only when he realises it by Lord’s blessings, he succeeds in life.”
“It is suicidal to sacrifice one’s life by listening to the unethical words of someone. Moral courage is not what one earns by being weak and being subjected to other’s atrocities. Each step should be taken carefully. Enemy comes in the attire of carelessness. Each situation should be used to prove one’s chance to stand steadfast with truth. One should lead a life rooted in strong morals. That is true valour and patriotism. My respects and greetings to Lord brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.” Sri Rama concluded.
Thus, Sri Rama commenced his royal administration.
All devotees and disciples received His blessings. It became an opportunity to the people of Ayodhya to know about welfare rule for welfare nation by Sree Rama than ever before.
Since Dasharatha could only be at best described as an average ruler, people did not get the full benefits (welfare rule for welfare nation). Welfare rule is more than just sincerity or wishful thinking. Bold steps are to be taken for that.
Aarsha Bharatha culture is unique. Welfare Rule for Welfare Nation is the most important right of the people. The successful implementation of Welfare Rule in a country for Welfare Nation is possible only if the Ruler allows pure air, water, food, clothes, house, education, hospital, vehicle, technological facilities, job etc. as the right which should be free with tax-free structure in order to live independently in security and protection.
7th Incarnation Lord Sree Rama was highly respected and worshiped. The fearless King Rama who led a very pious and noble life captured the admiration of all the people. He was accepted as the one who upholds the truth and the truth only.
Statesmanship, defence tactics, Legal knowledge and efficiency in Rajneethi (Rules and Justice for Welfare Nation) implementation enhanced the greatness of 7th Incarnation Lord Sree Rama. The tenacity with which he held on to Dharma even at the face of adversities was praised by all. Though he had consideration for the near and the dear ones, he was never carried away by personal attachments while taking decisions. Hence he was the dearest for all the people.
Lord Sree Rama enlightened the world on how to evaluate if an individual’s action is according to the norms of that country. This occasion of analysing the actions of Dasharatha, Kaikeyee and Manthara became instrumental for revealing to the world how one should fulfil his duties according to his positions.
This occasion paved a way to show the world how a King, Queen, husband, wife, father, sons and citizens of a country should behave themselves. It demonstrated how everyone should be self-disciplined for facilitating a smooth and progressive rule in the country. For that the ruler should be above any kind of disparity and sycophancy. The happenings that took place in the court demonstrated these principles very clearly.
Lord Sree Rama’s statements of justice, rising above the influences of relationships, became milestones in the history of law enforcement.
Lord Sree Rama imparted to the world the wisdom that however knowledgeable the person is, if he does not live by the law of justice and Dharma, he will not attain salvation.
A person should make use of all the opportunities he gets to enforce his faith and loyalty towards his country and Dharma as a whole. The court of Ayodhya was an illustration of this by Sree Rama.
Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu revealed to the world through Sree Rama, the meaning of Dharma and Rajneethi (Rules and Justice for Welfare Nation).
According to the wishes of all Lords, Sree Rama completed the first part of the purpose of His Incarnation.
Not trying to give orders and make people obey, Sree Rama obeyed the royal justice by Himself and showed the world the importance of keeping constant vigil in matters of law and order.
Sree Rama showed how one can be free of all influences and at the same time not keep grudge against anyone and not show favouritism. One should be totally free of prejudices while enforcing the law of the land. Thus 7th Incarnation Lord Sree Rama spread the good name and glory of Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu all over the universe.
